A FORMER hotel in Dunbar town centre has been sold.

The Lothian Hotel has lain vacant for more than two years after closing in September 2012.

But a spokeswoman for DM Hall confirmed the sale had gone through just before Christmas.

It comes on the heels of the Pine Marten opening, opposite Asda, on the town’s Spott Road.

At the same time, Dunmuir Hotel, previously known as the Goldenstones, re-opened earlier this month.

DM Hall includes a brochure which outlines the previous uses of the Lothian Hotel’s four floors.

On the ground floor is a public bar and function room, as well as toilets, kitchen and laundry.

The floor above has a total of 10 bedrooms with small kitchenette, shower room, bathroom and shared toilet.

The second floor has three bedrooms, shower room and toilet, with the attic formerly home to a flat. Finally, the basement provides storage and a beer cellar.

Steven Hill, chairman of Dunbar Trades’ Association, said: “Dunbar was on the BBC touted as one of the best high streets in Scotland for occupancy.

“We’ve got a vinyl record shop opening where the Curiosity Shop used to be and we have got Core and Caledonian Cupcakes down the street.

“It is great to see other units being taken up as well.”
