A NEW 27-bedroom hotel on the outskirts of Dunbar opened its doors yesterday (Friday).

The Pine Marten, on the town’s Spott Road, has created eight jobs and follows the opening of a neighbouring restaurant.

Nigel Whitfield, area manager for Marston’s Inns and Taverns, said: “We developed and built the lodge due to the success of what was our first new-build pub restaurant in Scotland.

“The opening of this 27 bedroom lodge has resulted in the creation of eight full-time jobs.

“We are already taking bookings.” Each room comes with en-suite facilities and the hotel is a mixture of family, double, twin and ground-floor accommodation.

Free WiFi is also available at the hotel, with bookings already being accepted.

Twenty parking spaces are also included, as well as storage for bicycles.

Dunbar and East Linton councillor Michael Veitch welcomed the new addition to the town.

He said: “It may attract people who otherwise would not have been coming into the town.

“It is right beside the main road and I hope it brings other people into Dunbar.”
