QUESTIONS about controversial zebra crossings, moved only three months ago, have once again reared their head.
The crossings on Dunbar’s High Street were moved further away from the junction with West Port after many months of campaigning by both the town’s residents and community council.
However, already another concern regarding the crossings has been raised.
Community councillor Herbert Coutts questioned why the crossing attendant had moved with the crossing, yet parents and children were still crossing at the previous position.
Previously, the lollipop man was located next to the junction but has since moved to the crossing, which links the Black Bull and Ladbrokes.
Mr Coutts said: “The kids are still crossing where they used to cross and where the lollipop man used to be.” A spokeswoman for East Lothian Council said a survey was carried out before the holidays and there was no support for a crossing guide to be at the former location.
She added: “The school crossing guide is positioned at the most appropriate location for children to cross.
“It was following concern raised by the community council that the crossings’ positions were changed.”
