THREE teenagers who tragically lost their lives last November are to be remembered at a special event at Dunbar Grammar School on Monday.

Jenna Barbour, 18, Josh Stewart, 16, and 15-year-old David Armstrong, all of whom attended the school, were killed in a car crash near Tyninghame.

Now, the school is holding a special celebration of the trio’s lives.

The event, which takes place at 6pm, has been programmed by the students themselves.

It is an affectionate look back over the lives of the three young people and will include presentations and music.

It is not intended to be a sombre event, but a celebration of the young people and the contribution they made on all who knew them.

The evening is a ticketed event because of demand, but there is no charge for attending.

Anyone wanting to book a place should contact the school office on 01368 863 339 or email the school at dunbar.gs@dunbargrammar.elc school.org.uk Afterwards, there will be refreshments, followed by the planting of a tree (donated by Sustaining Dunbar) and plaque in the school grounds as a memorial to them.

Meanwhile, another special event at the school is planned to take place over two days to mark the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

Themed lessons on the Commonwealth, as well as the whole school taking part in a Queen’s Baton walk around the town, will be held on June 16 and 17.

S2-S4 pupils will take part in various sports.

A baton will be carried round the cluster primary schools by Dunbar Grammar students.

The baton will then stay for one day at each primary school for their own Commonwealth celebrations.

The baton will arrive at Dunbar Grammar next Monday (June 16), to mark the opening of the secondary school’s Commonwealth event.

Next Tuesday (June 17), all S2, S3 and S4 pupils will be taking part in sport at three locations around the town.

That will see pupils playing ultimate frisbee, boccia, Gaelic football, volleyball, cyclo cross and Zumba at the Winterfield tennis courts, Belhaven Beach and the school playing fields.

The school’s senior students will be supporting a similar event being run with the cluster primary schools.

The events then finish on the school playing fields, with the official Queen’s Baton relay making an appearance at 4.30pm.
