Community garden project takes root at Belhaven
A COMMUNITY garden is to be set up at Belhaven Hospital in Dunbar.
A group of green-fingered residents have joined forces with the NHS to build the garden in the field next to the Beveridge Row facility.
Phase one of the project has started with an area being identified for a sensory garden, to the rear of Ward 1.
It is intended that the garden will be used by patients and visitors as a quiet place to chat and relax in the fresh air away from the hospital.
The group hopes to attract donations of materials and plants from local businesses and supporters of the project.
An exhibition of the plans for the area will be available at the hospital open day tomorrow (Saturday).
Meanwhile, community gardening judges from the Royal Horticultural Society visited Dunbar on Monday - to see efforts from Bielside Community garden and Dunbar in Bloom.
The groups hope to pick up achievement certificates from the RHS for their work in the town.
