A TRAFFIC warden is driving Dunbar residents round the bend with his 'over-zealous' ticketing, it was claimed at Dunbar Community Council"s meeting.
PC David Aitchison confirmed that a number of complaints had been received about the new warden who was later branded a 'tyrant' by Robin McEwan, chairman of Dunbar Trades" Association.
Dunbar Community Council chairman Stephen Bunyan said there was 'confusion' about where residents could legally park because some yellow lines had faded.
'The feeling has developed that, in areas where the paintwork was inadequate, people could park there,' said Mr Bunyan.
'We need to find what extent these "derelict" lines are still operational.'
Mr McEwan of Dunbar Trades" Association claimed the traffic warden had twice attempted to ticket an 80-year-old woman who was shopping on High Street.
He added that she had vowed never to return to Dunbar to shop.
'He"s just too enthusiatic and gets carried away with himself,' alleged Mr McEwan.
'It"s not the yellow lines that"s the problem; he thinks that everyone is a criminal because they have a car!'
Dunbar Community Council pledged to contact the council about repainting faded yellow lines in the town.
A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police declined to comment on the warden"s behaviour.
Have your say. .

It is disingenuous of the merchants to excogitate the warden's performance with such incongruent perspicaciousness. Surely they unequivocally illustrate a propensity towards mammon, having initially requested his vigilance towards suggested traffic malady, and then effusing discordant opinions?
If we are to achieve a mellifluous situation, without the bellicose allegory we see above, then we must lend our support to his daily avocation.
I would call for our alimentation to our warden.

Although I'm a traffic warden from England I always like to read the courier and find that this week I am simply flabbergasted at what is being said about this warden. Being in this job is difficult enough in cities but in small communities such as this it's like a goldfish bowl where every move is scrutinised. Lay off the chap I say.
Lilly, in relation to your misfortune last week I feel for you. Did I not read recently that there's a dog fouling watch in place. How'd they miss one the size of a fedora?

I agree whole heartedly leave the traffic Warden alone to do his job he can only follow the regulations set down and tickets wrongly issued will be cancelled. Dunbar one minute screams we need a traffic warden then when they get a decent one who does the job they have a go at him.
BACK OFF DUNBAR YOU ARE OUT OF ORDER!!!!!!!!

It's about time that there was a parking warden worth their salt here in Dunbar. Granted they could ease into it a bit, but negotiating the High Street is hair-raising at the best of times. Park in the designated areas and move the delivery vehicles along and the High Street will get more trade. There are a lot of people that won't park there, not because of the warden but because there wasn't any enforcement.
Keep up the great work!
