TWO cars have had their tyres slashed while parked on a Dunbar street.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the vehicles were vandalised.

The incident happened at about 8.30pm on Tuesday on Belhaven Road.

A man was seen in possession of an item, believed to be a knife, before slashing the tyres of a Volkswagen Up and Vauxhall Corsa.

Inquiries are ongoing to trace the suspect and anyone with information is asked to come forward.

He is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall with a slim build and wearing a grey hooded top and tracksuit bottoms.

Constable Chris Hutchison from Haddington Police Station said: "These have been mindless acts of vandalism that will leave the vehicle owners out of pocket.

"Anyone who saw any suspicious activity in Belhaven Road on Tuesday evening or who can help us identify the male responsible is urged to contact police immediately."
