TWO women were seriously injured and a man arrested following a three vehicle smash on the A1 yesterday.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the accident happened at the junction with the Cement Works, east of Dunbar.
They said the collision took place at around 1.50pm when a Volkswagen Transporter van collided with a Vauxhall car before a third Seat motor car was involved.
A 22-year-old man involved in the crash has been charged with a driving offence.
Sergeant Andy Gibb said: "One lane of the southbound carriageway remained closed for over four hours to allow for collision investigation and recovery of the vehicles.
" Two females remain in hospital for treatment to serious injuries but are expected to make a full recovery. A 22 year old male involved in the collision has been charged with a driving offence and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal."
Anyone who witnessed the accident or witnessed the vehicles involved on the road are asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 2255 of Saturday 23 September 2017.
