A DUNBAR woman threw a glass of alcohol over a staff member at a county hotel after an argument with her boyfriend.

Emma Bain threw the contents of her glass over Craig Wallace after he intervened as Bain and her partner argued at the bar of the Castle Hotel.

And as Bain was being escorted from the premises by staff, she then launched a glass at the bar, causing it to smash.

More members of staff then became involved in attempting to get Bain to leave and she slapped employee Chris Reid to the face before being ejected from the hotel.

Bain, of Lammermuir Crescent, had previously admitted three charges by letter and she confirmed her pleas when she appeared in the dock at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Wednesday.

The 25-year-old was ordered to pay £100 compensation each to Mr Wallace and Mr Reid and was also banned from entering the Castle Hotel in Dunbar for the next 12 months.

The court heard that Bain and her partner entered the bar area of the hotel at about 12.15am on June 11 this year.

After the pair began shouting at each other they were both asked to calm down, but after the man left the hotel Bain began abusing a member of staff who had been involved.

She then refused to leave the hotel and threw the drink in Mr Wallace’s face, then threw the glass at the bar.

Police were called in the following day after she had assaulted Mr Reid before being ejected.

Bain’s solicitor said that she had “consumed too much alcohol” that evening and as a result had “acted very badly”.

The brief added that Bain had been known to the staff members and there had been “no previous problems” with her behaviour.

Sheriff Patrick said that Bain’s “behaviour was not acceptable” before sentencing her to the compensation orders and the hotel ban.

Bain was admonished on the charge of throwing a glass at the bar area.

Bain admitted shouting, acting aggressively, refusing to leave the premises and throwing a glass over Craig Wallace at the Castle Hotel, High Street, Dunbar, on June 11.

She also admitted recklessly throwing a glass at the hotel’s bar, and assaulting Chris Reid by striking him on his head to his injury during the same incident.
