MORE than 100 county children were entertained by internet sensation Stampy, as the gaming expert visited East Lothian at the weekend.

Stampy, otherwise known as 23-year-old Joseph Garrett, from Portsmouth, was in the county at the weekend to give a talk, in secret, to pupils from East Linton Primary School.

And Paddy Burns, chief technology officer at East Linton-based 4J Studios, which organised the event, told the Courier: “It was great – the kids loved it. The kids were high as kites all day so I think they enjoyed themselves.” Stampy is something of an internet sensation, with youngsters regularly viewing his videos, which show ‘walk-throughs’ of the popular Minecraft games, and have seen Stampy overtake the likes of One Direction and Rihanna in the number of YouTube views he receives.

Fellow YouTube gamers iBallistic Squid, Amy Lee 33, Nettie Play and L for Leeeeee were also present.

As part of the visit, the children were divided into fours for a quiz, with the winning teams taking away an Xbox One console each.

Paddy added “There were a lot of happy children.” 4J Studios developed Minecraft for the Xbox 360 games console.
