A SPECIAL presentation has been made to an Ormiston resident in recognition of his contribution to the village.

After receiving a number of nominations from residents, David Fleming was presented with the Ormiston Community Award last month by community council chairman Jim Blane.

Nomination papers were given out to households late last year.

Then, it was up to residents to suggest who should receive the award, with the community council backing their choice.

A spokesman for the community council praised Mr Fleming’s efforts in the community.

He said: “He is best known for his enthusiasm and knowledge regarding local history. “His tireless pursuit in this field and his selfless disseminating of such information, in this regard, to organisations and individuals in our community is well-known and greatly appreciated.”
