GULLANE businesswoman Hazel Melville was the lucky winner of an iPad after taking part in East Lothian Council's annual survey of local businesses.

Hazel, who runs Hazel Rebecca in Gullane - which sells designer fabrics, bespoke curtains and gifts and accessories - was delighted with her prize, which was presented to her by Councillor John McMillan, cabinet spokesman for economic development and tourism.

Mr McMillan said: "The business survey is an essential tool for us. It's an annual survey which we send out to every business in East Lothian and the answers we get back underpin all the work we do to support businesses and economic growth in East Lothian.

"This includes everything from what seminars and courses we run to how we organise our business support funding. It also tells us how businesses are faring in these challenging times.

"It is hugely important for us to know how our businesses are doing and what they need in terms of support from the council. I would like to thank everyone who took part in this year's survey and offer my congratulations to our prize draw winner, Hazel."
