THERE was plenty of family fun in Elphinstone on Saturday when residents they held their summer fair.

With street entertainers, stilt walkers, stalls and lots of games for children, the day, organised by Elphinstone Community Association, was a huge success.

The fancy dress competition brought some colourful outfits for judging and thanks were given to Tranent Pipe Band for leading the parade through the village.

Stalls and entertainment were set up in the grounds behind the school and in the playground, while in the evening there was a family disco and raffle in Elphinstone Miners Welfare and Social Club.

The organisers also thanked Awards for All and Tranent and Elphinstone Community Council for helping to fund the fair.

They said: “Thanks to them we were able to offer free entry, free entertainment including the bouncy castles and, as always, free food for the kids.”
