KIND-hearted golfers have raised more than £13,000, which has been split between two charities.

More than 135 golfers took to Gullane no 1 at the end of July to raise money for Muirfield Riding Therapy and Scottish Love in Action.

The charities were chosen by Robert Dick, captain of Gullane Golf Club, as part of the captain's charity day.

He said: “I picked Muirfield Riding Therapy because I know a number of people very well who are active volunteers and supporters of the charity.

“There are strong connections with the local community and the golf club.

“Scottish Love in Action was chosen because my wife, Susan, and I were very involved with the charity for ten years.

“There is a strong personal connection with each of the charities.”

Susan Law, from Muirfield Riding Therapy, and Gillie Davidson, from Scottish Love in Action, were both on hand at Gullane Golf Club last Thursday morning to receive cheques for £6,650.

Mrs Law, chairwoman of Muirfield Riding Therapy, who are based at West Fenton, said there were more than 100 riders of various disabilities who benefited from riding therapy each week.

Scottish Love in Action, which is based in Edinburgh, caters for and supports vulnerable and destitute children by funding a home and school in south-east India.
