A POTENTIAL increase in youngsters using a North Berwick childminder has resulted in a planning application being sent to East Lothian Council.
Duncan Barbour, of the town’s Netherlaw, has applied to the local authority’s planning department for a part change of use.
The application notes: “The property currently is used for childminding and has planning permission for up to eight children on occasion.
“The Care Inspectorate are being approached about a variation for up to 12 children on occasion working with an assistant.
“As we understand this means that we have to apply for planning permission for a change of use of the property, even though there will be no physical changes to the property or buildings, as it is already set up for child minding.”
A decision on the proposals is expected this month.
