All patients at Montgomery Optometrists in Prestonpans and Tranent will now be asked to go to the group’s Musselburgh practice for future appointments.

The East Lothian optometrists have announced the news as a merger of the Tranent, Prestonpans and Musselburgh practices stating that all staff jobs have been retained.

The Prestonpans branch closed on December 31 last year, with the Tranent branch closing on March 31 this year.

Montgomery Optometrists say they have merged their practices in Tranent and Prestonpans to safeguard the future of independent eyecare within the community.

The team hope that the merger will allow patients to continue to receive an advanced level of eyecare with further improvements to the facilities and services available on the horizon.

All patient records from the Prestonpans and Tranent locations, including contact lens details and supply, have been transferred to the premises on Musselburgh High Street.

Karen Montgomery, optometrist and original owner at Montgomery Optometrists, said: “All the team are looking forward to the merger of Montgomery Prestonpans and Montgomery Tranent with the practice in Musselburgh.

“Our patients will continue to receive an excellent level of eyecare from our experienced team.

“We would like to thank our patients for their loyalty, and we look forward to providing the best possible service in Musselburgh.”

The team are expecting the consolidation of their practices to allow for much needed advancements in services and technology available, providing their patients with high standards of care and aiming to improve the eye health of the local community.

Gillian Montgomery, formerly at the Tranent location, added: “Merging our practice with Montgomery Musselburgh will provide a variety of really exciting opportunities for both the team and our patients and, as they will be seeing some familiar faces, we can guarantee their welcome will be a warm one.

“At Montgomery Musselburgh we hope to make an impact on the vision and eye health of our local community. We hope that by consolidating our practices, we will be able to move forwards in terms of the service we provide in the long term and this will enable us to continue serving the eyes of the Musselburgh, Prestonpans and Tranent community.”
