LAST month, we launched our East Lothian Courier Foodbank Appeal, and we’re asking our generous readers to dig deep and help out the county’s vital foodbanks and food initiatives in any way they can.

Now, we’re taking a closer look at the organisations and sponsors involved with our appeal – we’ll look at more each week in the lead-up to our April 18 issue, when we’ll be including a donation bag in our paper which readers can fill with goods for the various groups.

There will be lots of convenient locations for you to drop off your bag – we’ll carry a full list in that week’s issue.

We are being supported by our generous sponsors – AC’s Taxis, Minibuses & Coaches; Belmont Group; EDF; and Forth Blinds.

So please, if you can, take part in our appeal and help improve the lives of people in dire need – any donation you can make, no matter how small, will be hugely appreciated.

Forth Blinds

FORTH Blinds, based in Prestonpans, began trading in 2015.

Forth Blinds – one of the sponsors of the Courier’s foodbank appeal – supplies all types of blinds to schools, hospitals, offices, shops, care homes, government departments, student accommodation, historic buildings, houses, flats and conservatories.

The business prides itself on always going the extra mile and gets a buzz when faced with difficult and awkward projects that other companies might walk away from.

Fostering great connections with the leading manufacturers of blinds in the UK helps the company to achieve long-term commercial success through developing strong relationships with suppliers and customers alike.

With a small group of hard-working staff, Forth Blinds has grown significantly since beginning operations, with director Phil O’Brien telling the Courier that the business was constantly kept busy with work.

He said there were plans in place to add more staff to the company’s roster in the coming months.

He said: “It’s a wide range of work we do, and we do it to the highest possible standards.

“There is always a need for different blinds at different times of the year, so we are always busy.”

On sponsoring the Courier’s Foodbank Appeal, Mr O’Brien said: “We want to do what we can to help the local community when we can.

“The fact that in 2024 we are still seeing people need to use a foodbank is shocking. It’s disgraceful.

“I know the demand is high and it is sad to see people suffering in this way.

“I’m glad we can be involved and do our bit to help.”
