A HADDINGTON motorist will appear in court for sentencing later this month after he admitted causing a motorcyclist serious injury.
John Smillie, 64, pleaded guilty by letter to the offence of driving without due care and attention and failing to keep a proper lookout at the Fordell junction of the A68 and A6106 near Cousland.
Smillie’s careless driving caused a collision with a motorbike, causing rider Samuel Ramsay to suffer serious injury during the incident on September 30 last year. Smillie, of Hardgate Court, admitted the offence by letter and was due to appear in the dock at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Tuesday.
But after he failed to attend, the hearing was deferred to later this month for his personal appearance.
