PLANS have been submitted to East Lothian Council for a multi-million-pound hotel and care home in North Berwick.
If the plans, submitted by Edinburgh-based firm Yeoman McAllister Architects on behalf of Ford Estates for land off Tantallon Road, are given the go-ahead, a care home and “budget-style” hotel could be built side-by-side.
Rick Finc, director of Rick Finc Associates, the planning consultants involved with the proposals, told the Courier: “It has taken a while longer than we expected but the plans are in now.
“The delay was for us to provide extra information, and an administrative error with East Lothian Council.”
He hoped that there would be a decision on the planning application “in the next three or four months”.
The planning application was discussed by North Berwick Community Council last Tuesday. Concerns raised included the care home plans going against county-wide proposals to instead provide care through more ‘extra-care’ housing. The group is writing to the council about its concerns.
