A PRESTONPANS woman has avoided being placed on the sex offenders’ register after she admitted sending naked images of her ex-partner to another person.

Lindsay Watson, of McLachlan Gardens, was in a short relationship with the man but it ended badly in August last year.

A few months later, Watson sent four images and two videos of the man, of a sexually explicit nature, to a friend of hers via mobile messaging service Facebook Messenger.

The friend subsequently made contact with the man’s new partner and he confirmed the pictures were of him.

The man, who cannot be named due to legal reasons, called in police and Watson admitted sending the images and she was cautioned and charged.

Solicitor Mr Turner said that the man had sent Watson the images and video while the couple were in the relationship but she had become angered at his new relationship.

Mr Turner added that the pictures “were not made public” and sent to just one person in November last year.

The solicitor added that Watson had committed “a foolish act” and told Sheriff Adrian Cottam that his client should not be placed on the sex offenders’ register for such an offence.

Sheriff Cottam agreed by stating he did not believe Watson had committed the offence “maliciously” but that her actions were “still not to be condoned”.

The sheriff was content to hand out a £150 fine.

Watson pleaded guilty to disclosing photo and film of the man in an intimate situation and sending the images of a sexually explicit nature to another via social media at her home address on November 30 last year.
