FIREFIGHTERS have spent hours tackling “a large straw fire” near Longniddry.
Crews from Tranent and Haddington are in attendance at the incident, off the B6363, which links Longniddry and Macmerry.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said the crews received a call at about 3.25am this morning (Friday) after reports of 60 tonnes of bailed straw alight.
Crews have been at work using muck-hawks – rake-like devices – to tackle the fire.
