ROADS bosses are to close a busy motorway junction at the Clyde Tunnel for three nights.

Resurfacing works mean Junction 25 Cardonald and the junction 24 onslip that leads to it will be closed next Friday to Sunday - August 24 to 26.

The £140,000 programme of work could mean delays and drivers are being warned to leave extra time for their journeys.

Jane Maclennan, Scotland TranServ’s assistant engineer said: “This is a busy junction and in order to reduce the impact of the thousands of commuters and freight drivers using it daily, we have programmed the works for weekend overnights.

"We’ve been working with the local authority, emergency services and other key stakeholders to schedule the works.

“It was also important to work around the Glasgow 2018 Games to keep disruption to a minimum for visitors to the city and to programme the scheme outwith the busy school summer holiday season.

"By working overnight we’re confident disruption will be kept to an absolute minimum.”

Road closures will be in place from 8pm until 6am each day, Friday to Sunday, and more info can be found by following live traffic info @trafficscotland.

Local residents have been advised the resurfacing works may cause noise.

Diversions will be in place for motorists using the route.
