A NURSERY in Athelstaneford has been praised after an inspection from Education Scotland and the Care Inspectorate.

A team visited Mary Poppins Nursery in June and met with parents as well as staff.

And the inspection team praised the nursery for developing “happy, confident and settled children who are making good progress in their learning”.

The relationships between staff and families were also described as “strong” and “supportive”, while the staff were also praised.

Education Scotland graded the nursery, which has an intake of 24 children between the ages of two and five, as ‘good’ in five categories.

Education Scotland praised the nursery’s leadership of change; learning, teaching and assessment; securing children’s progress and ensuring wellbeing; and equality and inclusion.

And there was praise in four key areas from the Care Inspectorate – quality of care and support; quality of environment; quality of staffing; and quality of management and leadership.

A statement on Education Scotland’s website attributed to Dr Noreen Phillips, HM Inspector, and Donna Conroy, care inspector, said they would make no more visits in connection with the inspection.
