A MUSSELBURGH thief has received a prison sentence after admitting stealing from county supermarkets.
Alexander Manclark, who is currently serving a jail sentence for a separate matter, appeared from custody at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and pleaded guilty to three offences.
Not guilty pleas to a further five theft offences were all accepted by the Crown.
Manclark, who formerly lived at Delta Road, stole a quantity of meat from the Lidl store at High Street, Prestonpans, on November 30 last year.
The 29-year-old also admitted taking meat from the Co-op in Haddington and a quantity of alcohol from the town’s Tesco store, both on December 5 last year.
Sheriff Fiona Reith was also told that Manclark had carried out the thefts after he had been granted bail on three previous occasions at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
Sheriff Reith jailed Manclark for a total of 108 days for the three theft offences, with 30 days being attributable to the breaches of bail.
The new sentence will run consecutively to his current jail term.
