THIEVES broke into a church and caused hundred of pounds of damage before fleeing empty-handed.
Police are appealing for help tracing those responsible for the break-in which happened at Ormiston Parish Church, some time between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.
A window at the back of the church was broken and internal damage caused.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police in East Lothian are investigating following a break-in and attempted theft at Ormiston Parish Church.
"While nothing was stolen, several hundreds of pounds worth of damage was caused to the building and inquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible.
"Anyone with information is asked contact police immediately."
