EAST Lothian pair Catriona Matthew and Vikki Laing are set to miss the cut at the Ladies Scottish Open at Gullane.
North Berwick's Matthew had been well in contention at the end of the first round yesterday after posting a two-under 69 for a share of 22nd place.
But she endured a nightmare secound round today, an eight-over 79 placing her well down the field and a long way short of the projected cut for the weekend's play.
Musselburgh's Laing saw the damage done to her hopes yesterday with a four-over 75 and, though she improved marginally today with a three-over 74, she is a further stroke behind Matthew and also set to miss out.
Leading the way is American Tiffany Joh, who followed up her brilliant nine-under 62 yesterday with a four-under 67, seeing her three shots clear of the chasing pack.
The action continues tomorrow before concluding on Sunday.
