A MAN who launched a hammer attack in a Musselburgh home has been jailed.

Jamie Dickson repeatedly struck Ryan Gibson over the head and on the body with the blunt tool at a property on the town’s Mar Grove earlier this year.

Dickson, described as a prisoner of HMP Edinburgh, also threatened his victim with a knife and struggled with unnamed people within the home, placing them in a state of fear and alarm.

Not guilty pleas to attacking two further people during the March 21 incident were accepted by the Crown when 21-year-old Dickson appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month.

He returned to court on Monday, where he was sentenced to 18 months in prison. Dickson was also handed a nine-month supervised release order.

Co-accused Sean Gorman, 18, had had not guilty pleas to possessing a knife and to a breach of bail conditions accepted.

Dickson pleaded guilty to assaulting Mr Gibson with a hammer to his severe injury and to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner at Mar Grove, Musselburgh, on March 21.
