A FOUR-STAR guesthouse has been put up for sale for offers over £1.2 million.

Adniston Manor, next to West Adniston Farm, Macmerry, has been owned and operated by Alan, who also runs the Longniddry Inn, and Audrey Russell for 14 years.

However, the couple have decided to move on.

The business is being marketed by specialist business property adviser Christie & Co.

The couple said: “Audrey is looking to retire and spend quality time with our five grandchildren but Alan will continue to run our very successful local restaurants, one of which was bought through Christie & Co some years ago.

“With this in mind, we have chosen Christie & Co and entrusted the selling of our business to Stuart Drysdale, who we feel has a strong understanding of the guest house market.”

The sale of the manor includes the original detached, two-storey and attic property, a single-storey cottage extension to one side and a large garage extension to the other, sitting on 1.6 acres of gardens, with an orchard, gravel driveway and car park.

The large site lends itself to opportunities for further expansion on the existing buildings or new developments, subject to planning permission.

A total of seven en suite guest bedrooms are provided at Adniston: four in the main house and three within the cottage, which currently has its own separate entry access but can be linked to the main house internally too if desired.

Owner’s accommodation is also included in the main property within the second-floor large attic conversion, offering an en suite double bedroom, plus private living space on the ground floor.
