A 51-YEAR-OLD man suffered serious facial injuries after he was attacked as he was parked in a coastal car park in East Lothian on Saturday evening.

Police said the van driver was approached by two men outside his vehicle as he was parked at Barns Ness, near Dunbar, between 10.30pm and 11pm who launched a violent assault on him before raiding the van.

The men stole a number of personal items before fleeing in a white Iveco Daily van leaving their victim requiring hospital treatment for his injuries.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

They said both assailants were in their thirties and white. One was described as 6ft tall with short mousey brown hair, wearing a blue short sleeved polo shirt and light-coloured trainers. He spoke with an English accent.

The second was described as between 5ft 5ins-6ft tall and was wearing black-coloured trousers.

Detective Sergeant Gavin Morrison from Dalkeith CID said: “As a result of this incident the man has been left with serious injuries and we are eager to trace those responsible as soon as possible.

“I would ask anyone who may have been in the car park at Barns Ness on Saturday night, and who witnessed the suspects immediately before, or after the assault, to come forward.

“Equally anyone who may have seen the vehicle or the suspects in the Dunbar area, or has any information to assist our investigations, is asked to come forward as soon as possible.”
