TWO drivers have been taken to hospital after a second crash on the A1 less than an hour after part of the road had been closed.
Police said they were initally called to the busy road around 8.40am after a Nissan Micra and Nissan ACenta collided at Bankton Junction, near Tranent, sendind one of the vehicles into the central reservation barrier.
The outside lane was closed westbound as police and an ambulance arrived at the scene.
However 20 minutes later there was a second collision as a Vauxhall Corsa and Chevrolet Spark crashed near the initial accident scene.
Police said both drivers in the second incident had been taken to hospital.

It is understood the people travelling in the Nissan vehicles did not require to be taken to hospital and were treated by paramedics at the scene.
Amey was called to the scene and damage to the central reservation barrier was assessed before the lane was reopened at 9.40am.
