THIEVES who broke into a garden centre drove off with its safe in the back of their car.
The incident in the early hours of Monday, happened at Dunbar Garden Centre, Spott Road, some time betweeen 3.30am and 3.45am.
Police are hunting the thieves who are thought to have fled in a saloon-style car. The amount of cash in the safe at the time it was stolen has not been disclosed.
A police spokesperson said: "Police in East Lothian received a report of a break-in to a business, which took place in the Spott Road area of Dunbar between approximately 3.30am and 3.45am on Monday 25th June.
"Officers are eager to trace a silver or grey saloon-type vehicle, possibly a Skoda Octavia, and anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0459 of 25th June. Alternatively, information can be reported anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
