A MAN who fought with police officers outside his Musselburgh home has been placed on supervision for a year.

Dean Harvey struggled with the officers and also repeatedly shouted and swore during the bust-up at the town’s Delta Court.

Harvey assaulted one of the police constables by kicking him on the body while the officers attempted to restrain him during the incident in May last year.

Harvey, 33, pleaded guilty to two offences at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in April and he returned for sentencing last Friday after his case had been deferred for him to be of good behaviour.

A plea of not guilty to assaulting a second police constable was accepted by the Crown.

Sheriff Frank Crowe handed out a supervision order lasting 12 months and told Harvey that he must attend alcohol counselling when he is directed to.

Harvey admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by repeatedly shouting and swearing, and struggling with police officers at Delta Court, Musselburgh, on May 28 last year.

Harvey also pleaded guilty to assaulting PC Craig Davidson by kicking him on the body during the same incident.
