A MAN is in a serious condition in hospital after the car he was driving his a house at Ballencrieff on Saturday. 

The incident took place at about 4.30pm when the 53-year-old man, travelling westbound on the B1377 in a white Landrover Freelander, hit the front of a house at Ballencrieff, west of Drem. 

Passing motorists and local residents contacted emergency services and gave first aid to driver - no one else was injured. 

The road was closed for four hours to allow police to investigate and officers are now appealing for witnesses. 

Constable Yvonne Smyth, from Police Scotland’s road policing unit, said: “The driver of this car is still seriously ill in hospital and our thoughts are with his friends and family.

“I would ask anyone who saw the collision and has not yet spoken to the police, to contact us as soon as possible.”
