TWO businesses were broken into in the early hours of yesterday (Wednesday) morning.

The J and L Café, on Prestonpans’ Hawthorn Road, was targeted at about 1.50am, although nothing was taken.

Then, about ten minutes later, the Spar store in Pencaitland was broken into.

A three-figure sum of cash was taken.

Officers believe that the incidents are linked and a dark-coloured Mercedes-type car was used by the suspects, who are described as being male and dressed in dark clothing.

A silver Renault Megane, with the registration SB55 VXD was also stolen from outside a property on Musselburgh’s Galt Crescent between 5pm on Friday and 11am on Monday.

Anyone who saw or heard anything in these areas at these times is asked to get in contact with officers.

Similarly if anyone has information that can assist officers with their inquiries, they are asked to get in contact.

Inspector Andrew Harborow, of Haddington Police Station, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone with information about these three suspects or the incidents themselves.

“Those with information are asked to contact us on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting incident numbers 1365 of June 4, 0224 and 0692 of June 6.”
