A 45-YEAR-OLD man has been killed after he was struck by a train on Monday morning.
The man, who has not been named, was struck by the train near Longniddry Railway Station.
A spokesman for British Transport Police told the Courier: “Officers were called to the line close to Longniddry Railway Station at 7.27am on May 28 after reports that a person had been struck by a train.
"Paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service also attended but sadly a 45-year-old man, from East Lothian, was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the local Procurator Fiscal.”
ScotRail made the announcement at 7.40am and train services were suspended for more than 90 minutes.
A statement on ScotRail’s Twitter said: “Sadly due to a person being hit by a train, services between Edinburgh and North Berwick will be suspended until further notice.”
“We're working closely with the emergency services and will provide updates as soon as we can.”
The line re-opened at about 9.15am.
