CHICKEN thieves who stole five birds from a home near Oldhamstocks took their nest and the eggs they were sitting on as well.
East Lammermuir Community Council has issued a warning after a resident at Ferneylea reported discovering the Pekin Bantams had gone missing.
It is believed they may have been taken yesterday evening.
The community council said: "It is believed that more than one person is involved. The thieves even took the nest and eggs the hens were sitting on.
"The five missing Pekin Bantams are one black cockerel, two black hens, one silver hen and one grey speckled hen."
Posting the news on their website the community council appealed to anyone who can help or has information to get in touch by emailing ELCC.Comms@gmail.com.
