FOUR men have been charged following reports of rogue traders targeting homes in towns and villages across East Lothian this week.

Police Scotland said the men were arrested after a string of incidents were reported yesterday involving door to door calls in Longniddry, Gullane and Aberlady.

It followed similar reports of incidents in Prestonpans and Cockenzie and Port Seton on Tuesday.

It is understood the men, who are aged 30, 18, 19 and 21, face eight charges from incidents reported yesterday including charges of operating as pedlars without a licence.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers received calls from Stevenson Road, Glassel Park Road, Forthview Road, Kings Road and Charteris Road in Longniddry, Tranter Crescent, Aberlady and The Hawthorns and Erskine Road in Gullane.

"The men will appear in court at a later date."
