WORK to transform a village’s Post Office into a cafe appears to be under way.
Fidra Stores Post Office, on Dirleton’s Main Road, closed at the end of last month.
Planning permission was given last summer to transform the building into a cafe.
A poster on the front door reads: “So sorry for short notice, Post Office is closed from today, March 27. Nearest office is Aberlady or North Berwick. Hopefully there will be a village service in the future.”
Robert Doris was given permission by East Lothian Council to transform the building.
It had been hoped that the Post Office could be retained within any future cafe but it was felt the building was too small to house both.
