AN EXPANSION of a caravan park between Dunbar and West Barns has been given the green light.

Twenty-one caravans will be added to Belhaven Caravan Park, with four timber tents which were already in place also given retrospective planning permission by East Lothian Council.

The caravan park was first given planning permission in 1990 and has grown since then.

Now, 14 caravans will be arranged in a ‘u’ shape near the north of the site.

A single caravan will be placed in the north-west corner, with another four in the south-west and an additional single caravan at either end of an existing row in the south of the site.

The four timber tents have been erected near the pond.

A decision was taken this month by the local authority’s planning department.

The officer’s report said: “In conclusion, the proposal would result in development of the caravan park which would have an acceptable visual impact, provided the proposed landscaping is implemented, and the development would be of a design and layout appropriate for the character of the area.”
