Hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar has been confirmed as the first headliner of this year’s Glasgow Summer Sessions.
Organisers of the outdoor music festival described the date as “one of the the biggest announcements” in its five-year history.
The Californian artist, who has collaborated with Rihanna, Dr Dre, Drake, The Weeknd, N.E.R.D and Snoop Dogg, is the first addition to this year’s Bellahouston Park bill.
His appearance follows a show at The SSE Hydro and five Grammy Award wins.
Organisers say his set at Glasgow Summer Sessions on August 29 will allow Scottish audiences to see the star “at the top of his game”.
Geoff Ellis, DF Concerts chief, said: “We are really excited to announce Kendrick Lamar as the first Glasgow Summer Sessions headliner for 2018.
“Following in the footsteps of Eminem, Biffy Clyro, and Calvin Harris, to name a few acts who have previously played Glasgow Summer Sessions, Kendrick is well and truly at the top of his game after an outstanding show at The SSE Hydro at the weekend and we can’t wait to welcome him back to the city in August.”
