NO ACTION will be taken against the driver of a car, which was involved in a "minor collision" with a young girl as she crossed the road.

The incident happened at about 4.15pm last Wednesday on Haddington Road, in Tranent, when a ten-year-old girl was crossing the road.

Police said the girl received a "glancing blow" and was taken to hospital where she received treatment for a minor injury.

Her mother later told the Courier her daughter had been struck in the face by the wing mirror of the car, and came home "covered in blood", before later posting pictures of her daughter who, she said, needed stitches.

Officers have now traced and spoken to the driver of the vehicle and it has been established that no crime has been committed.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "The public are thanked for their assistance with this appeal."
