POLICE are appealing for witnesses following the theft of a £7,000 motocross bike in Haddington.
The bike, which belongs to former Scottish motocross champion Colin McLuckie, was stolen at about 12.15am on Monday from the garage where Mr McLuckie works with his dad, Colin Snr.
The suspects forced entry to the Hardgate premises and stole a white and red Honda CRF450 motocross bike which has the number 11 marked on the side.
The bike was last seen being driven off towards the A1 from the Hardgate area.
Officers are keen to trace two suspects seen in the area on motorbikes around the time of the theft.
Detective Constable Bruce Dodds, of Dalkeith CID, said: “I would ask anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour in the area around the time of the theft to contact us as soon as possible.
“The stolen bike was seen leaving in the direction of the A1 and I would ask anyone who has seen it since to get in touch.
“Equally, anyone who has information that can help with our investigations is asked to contact officers immediately.”
Anyone with information should contact Dalkeith CID via 101, quoting incident number 0039 of January 15, or make an anonymous report through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
