SNOW is expected to hit East Lothian tomorrow morning (Friday).

The Met Office has issued a yellow 'be aware' warning of snow covering the period from 3am tomorrow morning to 3pm in the afternoon.

A spell of snow is expected and as a result travel could be affected.

Although by far the worst of the snow is expected to fall further south in northern England, current forecasts suggest snow is likely to begin falling in East Lothian at about 8am tomorrow.

Light snow is expected to continue throughout the morning into the early afternoon.

An additional hazard is likely to be the fact the snow will be falling on frozen ground, with temperatures tonight expected to be among the coldest all year, possibly falling as low as -5C.

Things aren't set to warm up particularly tomorrow either, with temperatures in the day in East Lothian unlikely to get much above 1C.

Everyone is advised to take extra care when out and about.
