EAST Lothian Council has struck gold for its work involving tenants in the delivery of its housing services.

The local authority was presented with the highest level of award by the Tenants Information Service (TIS) and Scotland’s Housing Network following a review of its tenant scrutiny framework.

The award measures performance and recognises a level of customer participation, engagement and influence by a standard of gold, silver or bronze.

An independent assessment panel chaired by Scotland’s Housing Network was “very impressed with the work that the council and tenants do to embed tenant scrutiny into the delivery of housing services”.

The council’s tenants scrutiny work includes mystery shopping visits to council offices and involving tenants in surveys, estate inspections and consultation events.
