POWER tools, batteries and metal cabling has been stolen in a "high value" theft from the new waste incinerator site, near Dunbar.

Access was gained to some containers on the site at Oxwellmains, to the west of the town, with a number of items stolen.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "It is likely that, due to the quantity of items stolen, that at least one vehicle would have been required."

The Viridor facility, which will produce enough energy to continuously power 39,000 homes, is due to be complete in the near future.

The spokesman added: "If anyone saw anything suspicious in this area between 8pm on Sunday December 10 and 3am on Monday December 11, then contact Police on 101 quoting incident number 0475 of 11/12/2017.

"You can also report crime anonymously by contacting the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
