A MAN who raped a prostitute in Musselburgh has been jailed for nine years.
Kenneth Williamson, 33, was sentenced to the prison term at the High Court in Edinburgh for abducting and raping two prostitutes in separate incidents.
He raped the first woman in Dundee on January 5 last year, before carrying out the Musselburgh attack three months later.
Williamson had denied the charges but was convicted following a trial, which saw the victim from the Dundee attack, 35, give evidence.
The trial also heard police statements from the second woman, who has since died aged 36.
The attack in Musselburgh took place at Levenhall Links after Williamson picked up the woman in Leith.
She tried to leave the vehicle after Williamson refused to pay her in advance but he grabbed her by the hair before going on to rape her.
Afterwards he drove her back to the city.
His defence lawyer said Williamson had no record for violent offending.
