YOUNGSTERS at a Tranent primary school have been given a very important role... planning their teacher’s wedding!

P6 pupils at Sanderson’s Wynd Primary School were tasked with the job as a part of their budgeting topic.

They have been asked to come up with ideas, from venue options to designing the wedding cake and invitations.

P6 teacher Miss Douglas will hear pitches from each group of children before considering whether to use their ideas in her big day.

She said: “I am getting married next year and we decided that planning a wedding was the perfect topic for our P6 enterprise topic, as there are so many elements to think about – for example, thinking about the budget, designing invitations, and planning menus.

“Both of our P6 classes were very excited to plan the wedding right from the beginning of the project, and they’ve come up with some fantastic ideas.

“They have shown huge interest in the planning process, and many parents have commented about the engaging conversations they have been having at home with their children about the topic, which is fantastic.

“Both myself and Miss Enzerink (also a P6 teacher) are extremely proud of how hard the groups have been working.

“We are both really looking forward to hearing their pitches in the next few weeks.”

The pupils are working in groups and have been told to consider an overall budget of about £5,000.

As well as learning about the financial side they have been learning about weddings in different religions and cultures.
