A TEENAGER who admitted stealing a vehicle from outside a Musselburgh home is facing a custodial sentence.

Declan Russell took the car from outside the Denholm Road property in July.

Russell, who appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court from custody, pleaded guilty to three offences and was remanded in custody pending sentencing next month. The 19-year-old also admitted to resetting a set of car keys taken from a home on Edinburgh’s Ferry Road Gardens.

He also pleaded guilty to breaking a court-imposed curfew on July 19 after he had been found outwith his home address between the hours of 9pm and 7am.

The teenager had not guilty pleas to breaking into the Denholm Road home and to struggling with police officers, in a separate alleged incident said to have taken place on July 21, accepted by the Crown.

Russell, from Edinburgh, was remanded in custody and will appear back in the dock next month.

Co-accused Connor Whalen, 20, had not guilty pleas to breaking into the Musselburgh house, stealing the vehicle and breaking two court bail orders accepted by the Crown.

Russell admitted stealing a vehicle from outside a home at Denholm Road on July 16 or 17.

He also admitted to resetting a set of car keys and to not adhering to his bail conditions, committing both offences on July 19.
