A TEENAGE boy was taken to hospital after a serious assault near Prestongrange Museum.

The incident took place at about 9.30pm on November 3 and saw a 15-year-old boy assaulted opposite the museum on the B1348.

The teenager suffered a serious facial injury and was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary before being released following treatment.

Officers are appealing for witnesses and are eager to trace three men.

The suspects are described as being aged between 16-20 years old, about 5ft 8ins and were all wearing dark coloured hooded tops pulled over their faces.

One of the males was wearing a snood and all spoke with a local accent.

Detective Constable Ian McCandlish, of Dalkeith CID, said: “This was a serious attack and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the assault or knows who is responsible.

“Three males were seen to approach the victim from a wooded area near to Prestongrange Museum and I am keen to hear from anyone who knows who these individuals are, or with information, to come forward to help with our investigations.”
