AN INVESTIGATION is under way after a dog was discovered tied up outside a shop in Dunbar.
The Scottish SPCA was alerted after the female saluki cross breed was found tied up on the High Street at about 5pm on Sunday.
Inspector Alastair Adams said, “Whilst the dog is in good condition, she has a small lesion on her leg and has no microchip.
“A man wearing a woolly hat, fleece top and welly boots was seen tying up the dog, entering the shop and leaving soon after walking right by the dog.
“She is currently being cared for at our rescue and rehoming centre in Lanarkshire where she has been named Sally.”
Abandoning an animal is an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006. Anyone found guilty of doing so can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.
Anyone who recognises Sally or has information is being urged to contact the Scottish SPCA Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999.
